I didn’t die
A Ukranian volunteer with the UN on her foray into media interviews:
I HATE media interviews, I get even more nervous than I do during public presentations, and you put that camera in front of me and I get so afraid of saying something stupid and/or wrong. I tried to “disappear”, but Anna hunted me down [...]

You can’t escape the media
You may recall the story this past August of a young Austrian woman, Natascha Kampusch, who was held captive in a basement for over eight years. Thanks to Canuckflack I found this article from Der Spiegel detailing the public relations and media planning which her advisors did for her in the days and weeks [...]

Recapping your guest’s information
I came in on the middle of a TV interview this morning and was curious about who the guest was. Sadly, when the interview ended, the host only repeated the guest’s name - no details about her.
In live interview situations, it’s important to remember that your audience is not with you the entire time. [...]

Why go on a book tour?
Excellent analysis of the costs and benefits of doing a book tour, from author Ron Franscell, who’s posting his thoughts on each day of his current tour. His conclusion?

I had a client deliver a below-average TV interview the other day and a lot of it was because she lacked energy. I asked her later whether she didn’t get enough sleep or if she had something on her mind - turns out she was suffering from what I call “green room fatigue”. [...]

GiftTRAP game on TV tonight!
One of my clients recently got a spot on a national Canadian business program called Venture’s Dreamers and Schemers. Nick Kellet has invented a board game called GiftTRAP and the producers followed him around to trade shows, distributor meetings, and more to see how he’s getting this game off the ground - and it’s [...]

One shot to sound intelligent
From FemaleScienceProfessor:
the few media interviews I did were very disconcerting. It’s very different from teaching — when you teach, you have lots of opportunities to say things in several different ways until you are sure you get the point across. In an interview, you get one shot to sound intelligent. Or not.
